Canal Community Days is the C&O Canal Trust’s annual public volunteer program. Each year, we recruit and manage hundreds of volunteers to undertake a range of preservation, beautification, maintenance, and conservation projects along the 184.5-mile length of the C&O Canal National Historical Park, working closely with the National Park Service to identify priorities that volunteers of all ages can complete.
When:
Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 9:00am – 12:00pm

Great Falls 11710 MacArthur Blvd. Potomac, MD 20854 (Map link)
Note: This is not Great Falls Park in Virginia! This is the C&O Canal NHP in Maryland.
Projects Include:
-Paint park structures
-Mulch the picnic area
-Repair Potholes and fencing on the towpath
-Trim vegetation around the parking lot (Adults Only)
-Invasive species removal
Who:
All ages are welcome, but parents do remain responsible for children the entire time. No drop-offs. Student Service Learning (SSL) hours are available; just bring your forms from the school and we’ll be happy to sign them.

Volunteer Service Agreement (VSA) Form:
– If you are registering your child under 18, a VSA form, along with instructions, will be emailed to you once the registration has been received.
– Adults will sign a different form onsite.
