Join the C&O Canal Trust in celebrating Native Plant Month!
Explore native plantings in the C&O Canal National Historical Park with CHOH Biologist Layne Strickler, and C&O Canal Trust staff. Presentation will discuss successful efforts by NPS to support growth of native plantings in the C&O Canal National Historical Park and the C&O Canal Trust initiative to support the Rare Threatened and Endangered Species program. Attendees will learn more about the importance of growing native plants in their own home garden landscapes to encourage healthy ecosystems benefiting native birds, insects and animals. A walk will follow the presentation, along a designated path in celebration of Native Plants month and attendees will be provided seeds and guidance materials for plants native to Maryland. Attendees will learn more about ways to get involved with the Trust to support this initiative.
