Celebrate National Park Week with the C&O Canal Trust

Join the C&O Canal Trust to celebrate National Park Week! Trust President & CEO, Lauren Riviello will co-lead a walk with the NPS on April 25 in Georgetown to honor the C&O Canal. The C&O Canal is one of our nation’s most visited national parks out of over 430 units in the National Park System. Come learn about the unique features that have been preserved in the park and celebrate this nationally significant landmark.

A walk along the towpath will include a first-hand look at the C&O Canal’s current Locks and Walls project, a nearly $13 million construction project to rehabilitate multiple historic structures in the D.C. area. Attendees will hear directly from NPS staff about this critical preservation project and how the rehabilitation work will ensure that the watered canal can be maintained for current visitors and local residents as well as for future generations to continue to experience, learn, and enjoy.
