The Cumberland Terminus may be the end of the C & O Canal, but it can be the beginning of a grand adventure! Situated at Mile 184.5, the length of the canal towpath stretches ahead of you to the east and the Great Allegheny Passage, a rail-trail path, stretches nearly 150 miles to the west. Bikers and hikers transition seamlessly from the C & O Canal towpath at Cumberland onto the rail-trail path, the Great Allegheny Passage, at Canal Place in downtown Cumberland. Mile Marker 0 for the Passage is directly underneath the large blue arch in the photo.
