Carderock

Accessible by car off Clara Barton Parkway, Carderock is a great place for outdoor lovers. The eastern end is home to the Carderock Pavillion, which can be rented by groups for family or work gatherings and even weddings. There are also several picnic tables nearby that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. On the western end is the park's premiere rock climbing area, with routes ranging from easy to extremely technical. Finally the 1.6-mile Billy Goat Trail Section C surrounds the entire area. It is a beautiful hike along the Potomac River and includes several small rock scrambles and spring wildflowers.
