Looking for a service project for your business, corporate employer, or organization where you can make a real impact? Join us in the C&O Canal National Historical Park (NHP) and help keep it safe and welcoming for its nearly five million annual visitors who enjoy rest, recreation, and the enjoyment of nature and history.
Help us tackle projects essential to preserving and beautifying the Park: campground and trail improvements, historic preservation efforts, invasive plant and trash removal, planting native gardens, and more.
Each year, the C&O Canal Trust organizes and hosts community service projects in the Park. These projects are a great opportunity for your employees to help the community, and enjoy time outdoors. We will work with you to find a date, location, and project for your group, to be planned and led by C&O Canal Trust staff or a trained leader. The Trust will provide all supplies, tools, and protective gear for each project, and will coordinate site selection, permitting, logistics, and trash removal. A typical event lasts approximately three hours.
Support the Canal Community Days program:
Groups of up to 10 volunteers: $500 – Lockkeeper Level
Groups of up to 20 volunteers: $750 – Lockkeeper Level
Groups of up to 30 volunteers: $1,000 – Canal Preserver Level
Groups of up to 50 volunteers: $1,500 – Canal Preserver Level
Groups of more than 50 volunteers: $2,500 – Canal Traveler Level
*Donations are 100% tax-deductible and help cover costs of materials and project management
